And here's my response to this query:

Hello M

Thank you for contacting us. As you would be aware, IT field is a very broad field which is mainly categorized into Hardware and Software areas. It is not clear from your email whether you are looking for your career path in Software, and that too in the field of Oracle. Given your background in IT and Business, I will assume that this is correct and below mentioned are my suggestions for your career path in Oracle.

1. As in any field in IT, you have got to start by learning from the fundamentals. So my first suggestion to you is to start by learning Oracle from Fundamentals.

2. in Oracle E-Business Suite ERP ('Oracle') software, you can choose a Functional Career path or a Technical Career path. The Functional one involves more of working with the business users to understand the business requirements and then analyze those business requirement to give a solution in Oracle. If you can't find a standard solution in Oracle, then it ends up in a customization wherein you then work with Technical Consultants to design, test and deliver the customized solution to the business. Usual titles in this career path includes Junior Functional Consultant, Functional Consultant, Consultant and Functional Solution Architect.

3. On the other hand, a Technical Consultant career path involves analyzing requirements to customize an existing forms, or reports, or interfaces, or to develop a new ones. A technical consultant is also called as a developer, who mainly works with Functional Consultant and other technical consultants to design and deliver a customized solution. This person mainly interacts with the Functional Consultant and has minimal interaction with the business team. Usual titles in this career path includes Developer, Technical Consultant, Senior Consultant, Technical Solution Architect etc.

4. Now once you are clear about which career path you may want to follow, the next step is to take the appropriate training to build that career path.

5. At this stage I would suggest you to let me know which career path you wish to follow, and I am happy to guide you further. In the mean while you may start with our free course on 'R12i Oracle E-Business Fundamentals'. This is the link to the course - http://aclnz.com/guruPrograms/3-ebsfunda/7-r12iebsfunda/view/758?task=view.

Hope this was helpful to you. Happy holidays and good luck in your Oracle career!
