How to skip a failed worker using adctrl utility?

1. Start adctrl utility (see more info here How to use adctrl utility to restart failed worker in patch application?)

2. You will be shown 7 options in the main menu. But there is an 8th option that is not shown.

3. Use option 8 to skill a failed worker. Simply type 8 and hit enter key. The worker will be skipped.

4. Now resume your patch application

Recommended Approach

  • First consult Oracle Support and raise an SR.
  • My recommended approach is to use this option as a last resort. You should use this option only after you have tried and explored everything to fix a error in a job reported by a worker in 'adpatch' utility, and unable to proceed further with your patch application. The reason is simple - unless you fix the error reported by the worker, it will impact your patch installation and there might be dependencies around it.
