Follow the below mentioned steps to resolve this issue:
1. Open a new terminal window.
2. Login as run and run the following at command prompt:
DISPLAY=:0.0
xhost +
3. Now login as the Oracle user and retry launching Oracle Universal Installer. Hopefully you wouldn't get issue in Display variable now.
Environment - Oracle Linux 5.7 x86-64
