2. Public information

When we use the phrase "public information" (which we sometimes refer to as "Everyone information"), we mean the information you choose to make public, as well as information that is always publicly available.

A.Information you choose to make public:

  1. Choosing to make your information public is exactly what it sounds like: anyone, including people off ACL, will be able to see it.
  2. Choosing to make your information public also means that this information:
    1. can be associated with you (i.e., your name, profile pictures, cover photos, timeline, User ID, username, etc.) even off ACL;
    2. can show up when someone does a search on ACL or on a public search engine;
    3. will be accessible to the ACL integrated applications, and websites you and your friends use; and
  3. Sometimes you will not be able to select an audience when you post something (like when you write on a Page's wall or comment on a news article that uses our comments plugin). This is because some types of stories are always public stories.
  4. When others share information about you, they can also choose to make it public.

B.Information that is always publicly available

The types of information listed below are always publicly available, and they are treated just like information you decided to make public:

  1. Name: This helps your friends and family find you. If you are uncomfortable sharing your real name, you can always delete your account.
  2. Profile Pictures and Cover Photos: These help your friends and family recognize you. If you are uncomfortable making any of these photos public, you can always delete them. Unless you delete them, when you add a new profile picture or cover photo, the previous photo will remain public in your profile picture or cover photo album.
  3. Networks: This helps you see who you will be sharing information with before you choose "Friends and Networks" as a custom audience. If you are uncomfortable making your network public, you can leave the network.
  4. Gender: This allows us to refer to you properly.
  5. Username and User ID: These allow you to give out a custom link to your timeline or Page, receive email at your ACL email address, and help make ACL Platform possible.
  6. Applications: The applications such as blogs, forums etc.

Community Standards

http://www.aclnz.com ('ACL') gives Information Technology Professionals and Business Users around the world the power to publish their own stories, see the world through the eyes of many other people, and connect and share wherever they go.

ACL has put in place Professional Community Standards outlining the types of discussions and content that are acceptable on ACL website, and what may be deemed inappropriate and stopped by ACL. These community guidelines are intended to provide our members guidance and complement the list of Do’s and Don’ts found in the Terms of Service governing your use of, and participation in, ACL’s online services.

Please review these standards. They will help you understand what type of expression is acceptable, and what type of content may be reported and removed.

Real People

Unlike some other online services, our members need to be real people, who provide their real names and accurate information about themselves. It is not okay to provide misleading information about yourself, your qualifications or your work experience, affiliations or achievements on ACL’s service.

Claiming to be another person, creating a false presence for an organization, or creating multiple accounts undermines community and violates ACL's Terms.

Professionals

We ask our members to behave professionally by not being dishonest or inappropriate. We acknowledge the value of discussions around professional activities, but we do not want you to use ACL to shock or intimidate others.

Profile Photos and Background Photos

We provide you with the opportunity to add a photograph to your profile to help others recognize you. Your photo can be removed by ACL if your profile image is not your head shot photograph or do not resembles you. A head shot is a specific type of portrait that realistically demonstrates your appearance. If we remove your photo, you can upload a different photo of yourself. Your profile can be blocked if your background photo do not complies to this standard.

Bullying and Harassment

ACL does not tolerate bullying or harassment. We allow users to speak freely on matters and people of public interest, but take action on all reports of abusive behaviour directed at private individuals. Repeatedly targeting other users with unwanted friend requests or messages is a form of harassment.

ACL shouldn’t be used to harm others. It is not okay to use ACL’s services to harass, abuse, or send other unwelcomed communications to people (e.g., junk mail, spam, chain letters, phishing schemes). Do not use ACL’s services to threaten violence or property damage, or for hate speech acts like attacking people because of their race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, political or religious affiliations, or medical or physical condition. Also, please don’t use ACL’s services to intentionally infect others with viruses, worms, or other software that can destroy or interrupt their data or computer devices. It is not okay to interfere or disrupt ACL’s service.

Don't attempt to circumvent the Ignore feature or otherwise try to communicate with someone who has asked you to stop.

Graphic Content, Nudity and Pornography

Graphic images shared for sadistic effect or to celebrate or glorify violence or to shock others have no place on our site.

It is not okay to share obscene images or pornography on ACL’s service. ACL has a strict policy against the sharing of pornographic content and any explicitly sexual content where a minor is involved.

Other’s Rights and following the Law

We do not want ACL to be used for illegal activities or to violate the rights of others. Don’t use ACL’s services to commit fraud. Before sharing or using someone else’s copyrighted works, trademarks, private information, or trade secrets, please make sure you have the legal right to do so.

Security, Phishing and Spam

We take the safety of our members seriously and work to prevent attempts to compromise their privacy or security, including those that use fraud or deception. We also ask that you respect our members by not contacting them for commercial purposes without their consent.

Don’t spam people. Don’t make spam posts, don’t post spam replies, don’t send people spam messages. Be a regular human. Don't put tags on your posts that will mislead or deceive searchers. Don't put dubious code in your posts, like using JavaScript to cause redirects or inject unwanted ads in blogs. Don't use deceptive means to generate revenue or traffic, or create blogs with the primary purpose of affiliate marketing. Spam doesn't belong on ACL.

Deceptive or Fraudulent Links

Don't post deceptive or fraudulent links in your posts. This includes giving links misleading descriptions, putting the wrong “source” field in a post, setting misleading click-through links on images, or embedding links to interstitial or pop-up ads.

Terms of Service

Please don’t violate ACL Terms of Service. Please don’t use ACL’s services to wrongfully take data or information. It is not okay to suggest that you are affiliated with or endorsed by ACL when you are not, and it is not okay to violate ACL’s intellectual property rights. You can find more information about what this means in our Terms of Service.

Intellectual Property

Before sharing content on ACL, please be sure you have the right to do so. We ask that you respect copyrights, trademarks, and other legal rights.

Hate Speech

ACL does not permit hate speech, but distinguishes between serious and humorous speech. We do not permit individuals or groups to attack others based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability or medical condition.

Identity and Privacy

On ACL people connect using their real names and identities. We ask that you refrain from publishing the personal information of others without their consent. Claiming to be another person, creating a false presence for an organization, or creating multiple accounts undermines community and violates ACL's Terms.

Don’t do things that would cause confusion between you or your blog and a person or company, like registering a deliberately confusing URL. Don’t impersonate anyone.

Privacy Violations

Don't use ACL to deceptively obtain personal information. Don't post content that violates anyone’s privacy, especially personally identifying or confidential information like credit card numbers, social security numbers, unlisted contact information, or private photos of your ex's junk (no matter how remarkable).

Mass Registration or Automation

Don't register accounts or post content automatically, systematically, or programmatically.
